...not the surface of Mars. Or the moon. Just the tablet.

Sadly.

Kinja'd!!!

Sketched a 996 last night, only about 25 years late I guess.

Tonight’s a giant rebuild of the home desktop computer. Open heart surgery.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

That’s just one drive. Working through a full boot- and storage-drive replacement tonight, and a billion things have yet to go wrong, but I’ve already fixed a million other things.

So, there’s that.

But I think I need to get a fixed-USB (not wireless) keyboard to finish fixing BIOS shit.

Yay!

You might want to turn it off first.

I’m just leaving the barn doors off while each drive copies. The fans are blowing cooler-than-ambient air.

How is sketching on the Surface? Have you played around with an iPad Pro & Pencil yet?

I haven’t tried the ipad pro yet. Sketching on my gen4 ipad was a joke, totally useless. I’ve really come around to liking the surface— first thing I did was put a matte screen protector on it, which was essential. It eats stylus tips like crazy, but I have 2 bags of spares. Running a full desktop version of Photoshop makes the Surface totally worth it, IMO.

It's not quite as nice as my old Motion tablet with a Wacom screen, but newer hardware and software make up the difference.

Nice.

I played with the iPad Pro & Pencil in the store and was quite impressed. I guess there’s an app that will let you mirror your computer’s display and give you full Photoshop (makes more sense for me as my primary machine is a MacBook Pro). Might have to invest in one someday. Look back in my posts - I put up a demo video that shows what it can do.

I’ve heard good things. Before I got the surface I’d been nursing my ancient Motion tablet (8 years old, win xp, CS2) along, since Wacom had stopped licensing their tech after the Surface 1, and they started making their own tablets, which are just stupid expensive. I’m not a Mac guy, and don’t really care what platform I use as long as it works. This new generation of hd screens is pretty amazing, I can’t believe that the surface has almost as many pixels as my 30” desktop display. It’s really nice. My only real wish is for a 15” surface.

The new screens are incredible... My MacBook is 2880 by 1800. I just carried my old LaCie (and the G5 tower that it was hooked to) to a new place to gather dust. That was state of the art, ass-kicking power in 2003! If only I’d bought Apple stock instead of dropping a few grand on that machine... Oh well, hindsight and all that.
