The sketch looks amazing, it has everything that a Jalop would want from a sports car. But get this - the press release says it will be “Priced just under $300,000...”.

Just under $300,000 folks!

Doesn’t say how many dollars under $300k. Coincidentally, I happen to have some amount of money that’s also less than $300k. So I guess I’ll be buying one :D

Update: If anyone is wondering - no, I don’t mean the car will be powered by flatulence. Although Fisker was into cars fueled by alternative energy, this alternative has (unfortunately) not been explored yet.

Didn’t Bob Lutz already cover this by stuffing an LS7 or LS9 into the existing Karma, changing the ugly grille, and only charging 200k? Guess that was a sedan, but 300k for two fewer doors is pretty steep.

Steep? Tell me about it!

I can see why Bob Lutz had to charge $200k. He had to purchase Fiskers and then modify them. So sure, he would get group discount or something, but Fisker still made some amount of profit from the transaction. And he had to make money selling these on top of that.

Doesn’t anyone see the money in selling cars that look like this in higher volume for, say, $50k?

A while ago when we learned that Gordon Murray was working on designing a small car, I got all excited. But then we found out that its actually a small piddly budget car :(
