I like weather. I like reading and learning about it. There was a neat little sub-blog off Gawker called TheVane... it was active for a while then it’s been silent since November 16. How does one start these sub-blogs? Can someone educate me on this? Because it looks like they (the only author) just gave up on this one with no explanation.

Awesome, good for Mental Floss. Their co-founder is a friend of mine, lives right down the street. When we met last year, I was like “you’re a local celebrity!” and he was like “You’ve heard of us?”

Gawker culled a load of sub-blogs recently to focus on the core. There’s been noticeably more unacknowledged advertorial since. Fortunately Jalopnik still seems immune, except when some stuff leaks over from the main Gawkerverse.
