My Gawd, those things are massive beasts. (NoSR20, cause dumfuk poster left his phone inside).
Got to look it over for a few minutes and talk to the owners for another few.
They have been on the road for over a year and were heading to Baja and then to South America. They probably will just ford the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California) to get back to the mainland.
Here’s a couple of pics from the conversion company.
The tires are about 4.5-5’ feet tall. It weighs 30,000 pounds.
You’ve got to have some serious money to afford their trip.

Ah, it’s set up like a HI-LO.

Yeah, it is. Except this one could take out whole tree tops with no problems.

Wow, this thing is massive.
I saw this guy waiting in line at Canada Customs over the summer. I would to have one of these for an offroading adventurer.

They’ve got several winches and stuff to get you out of a bind. I bet they go almost anywhere except soft ground.

I so want to build my own Unimog camper. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) they are generally crazy expensive. There is one for sale not too far away for $9k, though. I bet parts are crazy expensive though.

This one had 2 spares on the back with a winch to take them down. There were at least 3 winches on that thing if you count that one.
It just blows me away how much money you must have to (a) buy the thing. (b) take a year or two to explore the Western Hemisphere.
