So, you remember the Dubai based Devel supercar that was making the rounds awhile back that was claiming 5000hp and all that fun stuff?

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I guess a crazy shop known as Steve Morris Engines made it happen in crazed fashion. It’s not quite 5000bhp, but it’s a lot closer than most would get. Even pulls to 7000rpm which is serious work when you think of the length of that crank and the camshaft as well.

CNC’d billet block. Probably zipped through this process well before lunch break was over...

Studly heads.

Video from a couple years ago with what was probably just a crate motor. Here’s hoping it all comes together and stays together long enough for some worthwhile video and testing.

5000 hp? Totally makes sense to put into a car

Well shit.

So it’s a pushrod unit, nice and compact that way. They’d have a hard time fitting a DOHC engine with turbos and ancillaries under that ridiculous rear cover anyway.

Yeah, it’s essentially a 16 cylinder LS-style engine.

Now I feel bad for doubting them. Sorry, Devel Sixteen guys.

It looks like the product of a crack-fueled orgy between a Zonda, a Veneno, and a Mazda Furai. But imagine the maintenance schedule and costs for that engine.

The only way that is remotely drivable is if they have some sort of AWD system, 5000HP and RWD? LOOOL traction.

Cute. They have got by far the easiest bit of the project done, and they already failed to reach their target.

That is truly impressive, but looking at those graphs, this thing is going to be nearly impossible to drive.

16 cylinder, 4 turbos, LS style billet.

This is one of the greatest things ever.

Hopefully that’s a joke? It’s easily many hours of machining.

Just say this on Bangshift, the more engine porn the better I say.

Yes it was a joke. Just a regular CNC port job on an existing LS head can take quite a few hours let alone doing it from just a billet block to a full head.

I can just see it now, you drove the car 14ft, engine needs a full teardown and rebuild. Oh, you did a 1/4 mile pull? Engine needs to be replaced. completely. You drove it an entire mile? Chassis needs to be replaced due to warping.

Yup, I want to see a full graph though too. Not just from 4500-7000.

It's going to sit in a garage 999/1000 of its life so I think this one should get a pass.

Yeah the cooling setup is gonna have to be on point. It has tons of studs on it, but with that long a cylinder head, it’s gonna need to have great cooling capacity.

I sure as hell hope they did their CAE work on that thing. Crank and cam bending is gonna be a bitch. Also, its hard enough to get good bore distortion on an I4, now you’re trying to bolt a head that long to the block? Hope they hone it with a really good deck plate on there.

Yeah and it’s gonna have some crazy torsional stress going on with the length of that camshaft and 32 hydraulic roller lifters dragging across the lobes. Probably need to replace timing chain and dogbone tensioner on a regular interval as well.
