$1 for air, compressed & sent through a hose with an adapter to fill up your tires. Although this has a preset for PSI.

I don’t know whether to be amazed or appalled that we’ve put a price on air.

Wow...just wow..

A lot of the time if you go inside they’ll just turn it on for you...at least some places near me used to be able to do that.

When I worked at a service station back when they actually were still a thing we could do that. As long as you bought anything else at all. If people came to use just the air and complained we’d ask them to just buy 25 cents of gas and turn it on.

I just air up my tires at home.
One dollar seems reasonable, though. Not for the air, but for the convenience, especially that fantastic PSI preset feature.

It's been 75 cents or a dollar near me for a while now. I keep a little 12v inflator in my trunk now so that I don't have to deal with it.

Only a dollar?
A few stations have free ones near me but most are $1.25-1.75

Fuck you stupid quarters only shit. They should accept pennies, dimes, nickels, and dollar coins.

Hess used to have free air, but when they became Speedway they charge for it now.

I don’t know ifs a federal law or not, but in Ct, if the gas station sells over 10k gallons a month, they are required to have free air. There my be a paid machine out there-but if you go in and ask they have to turn it on.
Just read some more-at least as off 2010, Ct and Ca are the only states its a law. http://www.theday.com/article/201001…

An air machine that takes credit cards. New to me.
But I have my own air machine at home.

Just a little shocker. I have travelled through Europe quite a bit, but I have not found a single gas station that charges for air.

They’ve been doing it more and more here. I refuse to pay.

Twenty-plus years ago, it was uncommon to see a coin-op machine here, but not exactly rare. Now, seems like the rarity is a free one, although lots of places just don’t have an air pump anymore. I refuse to pay for air, especially considering I have a foot pump in the boot and need to get more exercise anyway.

Wait, does anywhere still have the old-style trigger hoses? I haven’t seen one in at least ten years.

Both gas stations next to each other near my home in HK have air pumps and PSI presets and they’re completely free...

Trigger hoses are still the norm where I am (Western Mass)

the only positive about california besides the burritos : free air at gas-stations required by law.
