This car was my DD and only car for 4 years. Sold it last year and now have 2 cars for separate uses, but I still miss it and remember it for all of its Porscheness.

Those rear hips, the instantaneous throttle response, the impossibly sturdy chassis and precise tuning, the rev-happy flat six, the spitting and burbling Carnewal exhaust (the single best thing I ever did to the car, which lacked the rare and expensive PSE option), the well-built Sand Beige interior, the surprisingly practical storage areas, the nasty brake job bill, the sluggish Tiptronic trans—OK, I don’t miss those last two.

Any other former Porsche owners here that miss them? What aspects do you guys miss about these near-perfect sports cars?

I miss actually driving mine. Now that it’s worth billions of dollars, I’m scared to take it out of the garage.

So every time you open the garage door, it loses $50 in value due to light striking the paint. Beautiful car; what year and miles?

Pretty much. I try not to look directly at for fear of damaging it. It’s an ‘87 with just over 60k. Bought it a few years ago for 20 grand and change lol.

I never miss my 928S. But the 911 3.2 that replaced it will never leave me. NEVER!

Had my heart set on a red one, sand interior. After a few years and finally enough $ + permission from the wife, I went to look at one. After close inspection I figured I could only fit in a briefcase, assuming no passenger. I don’t have space nor permission to have 2 cars for myself. Passed on buying. Watch everyone that goes by and sigh. Hope they hit the throttle so I can hear the engine again.

Definitely, at least with cars. The more you try, the more you appreciate. The Cayman really made me somewhat of a Porsche guy, despite never having been interested in them as a child. I’m still not convinced that air-cooled strictly sounds better, though. Could be I’m just jelly that I can’t afford a 993 Turbo.

I replaced the Cayman in two steps: A 200k mile Escort to train up my manual game, then a be-paddled 355 (it’s in some of my posts) because I couldn’t find a manual F355. I’m over it and I do like the F1 now.

Also have an Accord for commuting and babyschlepping.

You need a 997. It gives your wife the illusion of more storage space. There actually is more space as long as you don't use the rear seats for humans.
