Lately I’ve been really into vintage tractors. I have no real need for one but I never realised just how cheap they were.
I found this 1952 Cockshutt 30 just 3 hours away. It is fully restored for ONLY $3000 bucks.
You may ask what’s so special about a Cockshutt 30? Well you see my grandfather who was my absolute hero(which I’m naming my son after). Owned a Cockshutt dealership back in the 50’s this is the only known photo of said dealership and look what’s in the background. That’s right a 1952 Cockshutt 30.
The odds of finding the same model, the same year, for the right price and in the right condition is literally next to impossible. Of course I have no money but if I suddenly stumbled on 3 grand this is for sure what I’d buy.

I like vintage tractors more than most people would expect. My bag is mostly Ford N-series and 70s Cub Cadets, but this thing is groovy.

My father has a Massey Ferguson 35 (iirc). Great fun, although I really don’t recommend trying to do your own tire swaps if you have a flat (particularly with fluid-filled tires). Helped do that over the summer. 3/10 sucked big time.

Buy it!
My son is named after my great-grandfather, who was an engineer for Oliver (and possibly Cockschutt after they were bought by White and made a subsidiary of Oliver in 1962).

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one around here whose sense of humore didn’t mature beyond 12 years old.

Darn you! I’ve gone down the rabbit hole. Hopefully one day I own a house with enough land to warrant owning one to mow.

Heard a rumor that vintage tractors are becoming a premium as some new companies have prevented Farmers from working on or modifying the tractors without an official rep.

So I am hoping the updated rules on DMCA fix this.

With the axle sticking out like that does that mean these can be converted to dually?

I saw that.

I never knew that they have anything other than air. but in the listings one mentions fluid filled tires and in another ad it stated ceramic filled tires.
You learn something new everyday.

If I didn’t already have 2K on my line of credit I’d buy it. Maybe one day I’ll find one. My son(due in February) needs a crib and a carseat more than a tractor at this point.
But this dream is not over I guarantee you this is not how it ends.

I remember reading something very similar to this a while back it’s completely ridiculous. But what is more ridiculous is that you can buy a restored 70 year old vehicle for so little.

Yep, it’s a thing and it makes the tires weigh a BUTTLOAD. I think they were around 1,000 lbs/tire. Great for weighing the tractor down, but not great for trying to install by hand.
Still, buy a tractor, they’re fun. Plus, you can run it in parades and stuff!

I would assume so? Though I’m not familiar with old International tractors, only their WWII era trucks.

Something to be said for zoomies with rain caps on them. Watching the cylinders fire...

I believe the shaft sticking out would be for adding weights, something that’s often needed on older tractors

That’s incredibly cheap!
Very sexy tractor too. I love how the lines of the grille continue on the body.
