This thing speaks to me on a spiritual level. These are really the only affordable V12 classic cars out there. Yes, the Germans made V12’s but if you want an old-world carbureted V12 and you don’t have $400,000 to spend, a V12 Jaguar XJ or E-Type is the only way to go. I wrote a full article on this lovely sedan !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

What color is that, eggplant or something of the like?

You can get a pretty OK pre-war V12 Lincoln for <$50k. Postwar models go for a lot, sometimes more, but still less than or comparable to an XKE.

Lighting in the photos is a bit strange (shot on a phone) but it was a light blue colour in person. I think the purplish hue is from my poor camera quality.

Blue eggplants?

I totally forgot about Lincoln V12’s and you’re totally right. Cool thought!

The Ferrari 400i can often be had under 20k, and sometimes as low as 10k.

I could say something about how Lincoln V12s like to overheat and be ornery, but compared to some Jag V12s I think the average comes out to “placid and perfectly well-mannered in every way” by comparison.

Maybe they could be found that low five years ago, but prices have really ballooned recently. That said, Most 400i’s for sale date from the early to mid-80’s which is pushing what I’d consider a classic.

I too have heard that the Lincoln V12’s, while cool, have serious cooling problems.

Heh, I’m colorblind, so I often mix up whether there is a red or green component to a color, especially purples.
