Hey oppo, I’m looking for the Lehto posts on used cars, lemon laws, and/or anything in between. For some reason, my google-fu isn’t working. I’m looking for a friend a FB, who’s complaining about her car that the dealership won’t touch. Thanks.

Can you be more specific? That description encompasses a ton of posts.

Hey Steve! She’s in MI too. She put on FB “Just so everyone knows. Do not do business at [dealership] in Durand. They will lie to you lead you on and sell you a lemon for thousands of dollars more than what it’s worth, and then have the nerve to smile and say sorry that happened. I have had this trailblazer for a year now and am looking at having to replace the transmission a second time. There are also hundreds of dollars worth of other problems I’ve already fixed and I can’t even trade this truck in because it has negative equity. Oh not to mention the gas gauge has never worked and they told me it was low on gas. So save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else.”

Apparently from other posts, “...they refused to give me a warranty. And the gas gauge going out is a recall from GM. They refused to fix it because it was already sold and I should have made that part of my deal. Shouldn’t they have fixed that before they sold it? Aren’t all of their cars supposed to be checked over for problems before they are allowed to price and sell it? I’ve paid to drop my gas tank 3 times, put in new fuel pumps, nothing has worked. Now I’m finding out it may be due to an accident. They knew about these problems... And I know it because they weren’t surprised when I told them about them. I have been fixing things since the day I got this car. It had never even had a tune up EVER in the lifetime of the car. And their sales pitch was “ we don’t want you to have to pick between making a car payment or making a repair.” Not to mention I didn’t even want this truck... I put $1500 down on an aztek and they sold it out from under me, even though I had a receipt saying the sale was pending to me.” And “...Yeah, I had no other choice at the time unfortunately. My vehicle had completely broken down and I didn’t have the resources to do much else. I thought it was all good until things kept breaking down. It was supposed to be certified used... And I took it back to the dealership I got it from and they refused. Probably because they already know it doesn’t fall under the recall if it was from an accident. It needed a tune up. Bad. It started having problems almost immediately after I got it because they spark plugs were so corroded. I expect when I am buying a car from a dealership for them to be more trust worthy than someone on the street.”

I’m not sure if she has a case or not, depends if she got it as-is or not. I asked her but she hasn’t answered me back yet.

It's seems she got gypped, but I’m not sure if she can do anything about it.

Oh, she’s screwed. I’m sure it was sold as-is, that’s standard. If there were truly these issues at sale they’d have been caught on PPI if she did her due diligence, but I’d suspect some-to-all of them are just the result of driving a high mile GM product.

The fuel level sensor is a known issue, but I don’t believe it’s a recall. They were subsidizing repairs for a while under a TSB, but I’m not sure if that’s still running and they were only giving the discount on ones under certain mileage. Spark plugs are on her. Lack of “tune-ups” (whatever that means) is on her. First transmission failing could have been a fluke or would have been noticeable on PPI. Second transmission failing has nothing to do with a dealer who sold her the car over a year ago.

Her only hope would be if they stupidly put something like “No accidents” as opposed to “No known accidents”/“Clean Carfax” and she has definitive proof that there was one. I highly doubt they did that.

I was thinking along the same line, if she has something written they says something contrary to fact, she might have a case. Otherwise, she's in tough luck. :/
