My RX7 officially spits flames...

Not sure if it’s good (it has a small gas/air ratio problem, nothing bad but well, annoying over 7500rpm if I shift too fast as it drowns the engine for a second. Will fix it later...), I heard it backfire a bunch of times, but tonight in a tunnel, I got the confirmation that it does spit flames too when I saw the flames suddenly brightening the tunnel lol.

Rotaries: they use so much fuel they even spit some in flames just for the sake of it lol

I don’t know feels weird really lol... Arriving at a toll, exiting a tunnel, letting off the gas and lightning off the place along with a big “BRAP”... I guess I’m more used to more discreet cars. Considering I had a yellow Corvette before, that means a lot :)

I’m actually not sure if I have a rev-limiter anymore lol... I reached 9000rpm a couple of times and no rev-limiter in sight :)

It’s an RE-Amemiya car Turbo SA22C Rx7... Anything BUT stock. Not sure I want to try and find the rev-limiter...

Very random question about RX-7 owners: I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan and I see a black, tuned RX-7 around town all the time (usually doing about 110 mph on the freeway). Do you happen to be on OPPO? I dig your ride.

Yeah but me it’s because there is a bug somewhere lol... Air-fuel ratio not too good I guess... I’ll bring the car to a rotary specialist to get rid of this when I have a couple of thousands laying around... It’s only annoying over 7500rpm and I can definitly live with it :)

Nah, I have a 12a Turbo... They are supposed to go up to 7000rpm stock... I know this one goes to 9000, but certainly not 10 or 11k on a 31 year old engine :)

The tachometer goes to 11 though :P

If it doesn’t have a cat it should shoot flames. If you do have a cat it might be dying, a rotory can’t burn everything and on a highway the exhaust gets ridiculously hot so if that’s the only time you see it your cat isn’t working. (It should burn off the excess so it doesn’t ignite much further down the exhaust) Do you know what your af is?

Flames coming out of a rotory is like oil coming out of a land rover, it’s a good thing bc at least you know it’s not going to grenade on you.

Edit: forgot you said it was bogging too, is it only bogging at high rpm? Other than carbon buildup and stupid bad mpg it’s a hell of a lot better than lean.

No there is no cat... Straight pipe for the win lol... It’s weirdly not that loud though...

As far as it bugging does, I know hat the problem is and will fix it later on. It involves removing lots of useless stuff lol

It is odd how little difference a cat makes on a rotory as far as sound goes.

Vac leak? I’ve got a solenoid out on my 8 but I’ve been procrastinating swapping it, it’ll take hours to get to, so I feel you, I’m half inclined to let it go till something else in the are breaks lol.

Nah in my situation it’s the entire anti-pollution system that is belt run for some reason that screws thing up lol... No more blet are runnign it, but it’s still a massive “air leak” in itself which needs to be deleted. The problem most likely comes from that...

I’m with Locksmith, I see no “problem.” After my last tune, mine started spitting fire and I thought it was cool. Unfortunately, it makes me look bad at car shows cause there’s no way to keep the inside of my exhaust tips clean.
