I'm so sad honestly, I really like this car and it was the car I brought my child home from the hospital in, I just can't justify 4k for the fix or the time

I has sad for you. My heart broke when I thought I had to do a HG again.

I usually don’t recommend pour-in sealers.
But I feel you. If that engine’s still having trouble after one head gasket job, it might be worth trying out one of those heavy-duty permanent drop-in solutions. Even if it’s a last resort.

Already tried a few sadly,

Man that sucks...you could get a newer V70, might have fewer issues or if your significant other is feeling in a non-Volvo mood get a used E61 estate or equivalent and descend into the Germanic world of wagons...

Go on Car-part.com
If your V70R is from the 1990s, then a used engine can be had for $700 to $1000.
If you have the 2nd gen V70R, then it will be more pricy... $1000 to $2000.
If the rest of the car is in good condition and you like it, then consider sourcing and installing a used engine.

Could, wife is phobic of used cars now. I think it's gonna be a fusion or cmax for me

Hmm decent option not sure how the wife will feel about that, tho. Will discuss with her this evening

Before discussing, first see if a good used engine is locally available. It won’t be cost effective if it’s halfway across the country.

There a 68k engine 69 miles from me. So worth discussing I would say, she does not seem enthusiastic about the idea
