Kinja'd!!!

Buying into the shiny new Ferrari IPO (NYSE: RACE) at the opening bell probably wasn’t a good idea... at least for now.

The IPO was valued at $52/share late last night and opened at $60 this morning as the buy-at-any-price brokers went nuts in the first minutes.

The stock quickly plummeted and normalized after that, which could spell early losses for those brave souls who blinked first.

Unlike the cars, the Ferrari IPO hasn’t been seen as a good investment by many going into today. Launching in the midst of a big auto slump (thanks to the VW diesel snafu) probably didn’t help matters much.

Yet we all know that Ferrari is as profitable as ever. And that’s what investors really want.

Would I buy Ferrari stock as an investment? No. Would I buy it for the novelty and maybe get lucky down the road? I’d consider it. If only I had $58 laying around.

Disclaimer: I know very little about stocks. Do not take this as investing advice.

Yeah looks like a bunch of folks went the get-rich-quick route after it peaked. It’ll probably make reasonable gains now that those folks are out.

President of the Exchange: Margin call, gentlemen.

Mortimer Duke: Why you can’t expect us to...

President of the Exchange: You know the rules. All accounts to be settled at the end of the day’s trading, without exception.

Randolph Duke: You know perfectly well that we don’t have 394 million dollars in cash!!!

President of the Exchange: I’m sorry, boys. - Put the Duke Brothers’ seats on the exchange up for sale at once. Seize all assets of Duke & Duke Commodity Brokers, as well as all personal holdings of Randolph and Mortimer Duke.

Randolph Duke: [gasp]We’re ruined![/gasp]

Mortimer Duke: This is an outrage! I demand an investigation! You can’t sell our seats. A Duke has been sitting on this exchange since it was founded. We founded this exchange. It’s ours! It belongs to us!

President of the Exchange: [ Randolph Duke has just collapsed with shock ] Mortimer, your brother is not well. We better call an ambulance.

Mortimer Duke: [F#ç&] him! Now, you listen to me! I want trading reopened right now. Get those brokers back in here! Turn those machines back on! [ shouts - it echoes pathetically throughout the trading hall ] Turn those machines back on!!!
