Their prices have really fallen. They gave me nearly $1000 for a Chrysler Town and Country like 2 years ago...which is within a couple hundred dollars of what I would have asked in a private sale.

Wow. They gave me $185 for this, and that was after I sold off the hood and parts of the interior on craigslist.

Yeah man, our car runs a and drives and has new tires... definitely needs work but 160? No.

That's pretty bad. I wonder if they just don't want to buy cars right now...they offered $200 for my running, driving, inspected F-150.

Scrap prices are ridiculously low right now, and have been declining for probably about a year. I imagine it’ll level out at some point, but I have a big chunk of scrap metal sitting in my basement that I’m kicking myself for not scrapping it 2 years ago. I would have gotten double what it would bring today. Oh well, it’ll still probably fetch a hundred bucks or so.

My friend recently got $50 for his beater ‘91 Protege, after he stripped the entire interior and sold those parts online. Made about $700 from those parts, though...

Pretty much anything that runs and drives with new tires should fetch $1000 minimum if it will pass inspection.

The vibe? Are you insane?

Scrap is way down. I’m seeing $145/ton in the Chicago area. That’s peanuts compared to a year and a half ago when I was getting close to $300/ton.
