Was cleaning the Miata and saw this funny rectangular thing and wondered what it was for. Then I remembered all times in the Jeep the passenger seat belts would fly all over the place.
And like magic, no more floppy seat belt.

Too many convertibles don’t have this.
Too many cars are missing little features that other cars have. Drives you crazy. Why don’t Japanese cars from the 90s have cup holders? How come some cars came with AUX ports a decade and a half ago but some didn’t until recently/never did?

Oh you mean like how my 360 which retailed new in 2000 for roughly $185,000 only has a tape deck, yet the 99 Saab I bought for $3500 when I was 19 had a CD player...

I think my saab has these.

Exactly. What the hell? They could literally use an off-the-shelf head unit and solve that problem. They probably did, they just used the worst one they could find.
For the record, my ‘94 300ZX and ‘90 MR2 both have CD players as well.

The only problem with using that, in my experience, is that people can’t figure out where the seatbelt went.
Also, you should totally get leather seats for you Miata at some point. I did with mine and it was great, we paid about $300 for a pair of tan seats in perfect shape at a scrapyard.

I only read part of this sentence and briefly thought you had a very overpriced Subaru

This is similar to the little clips in the back of my Mazda5 to hold the seatbelts for the third row. However, they are useless. If I can figure out how to remove them I’ll flip them around I will. At this point the opening for the belt is facing forward, and the tension on the belt just pulls them out of the clip. If they were reversed, the tension on the belt would hold the belts in place. Kind of a surprising oversight on Mazda’s part.

I assumed they made one out of gold.

I was actually thinking about retrofitting some Elise seats as they sit much lower.
