Autocrossed all day in Bremerton, WA yesterday. The morning session was very wet and a bit of a shitshow, but entertaining, of course.
A few observations: Yes, that’s a Versa in the background. As a Versa owner myself, I could tell he had some suspension tweaks, but he did pretty well. One of the fastest times of the day was posted by a brand new, bone stock Miata. The driver obviously knew what he was doing, but he bested people in purpose-built autocross machines. It was impressive.
I did ok. I’m getting better. This was my 4th event, so I still have a long way to go.

You don’t fuck with Miatas on an autocross course. Did you see what tires it had?

No, but it didn’t even have a license plate yet, so I’d be surprised if the tires weren’t stock too.
There were quite a few other Miatas there (obviously) but I was impressed that the new one was so much faster bone stock than the extensively modded NA’s and NB’s.

that’s a funny thing you see in autocross, people pour a lot of money in mods on their cars but then you see a good driver in a stock example is still faster. Which just goes to show you, the nut behind the wheel is the one that needs the most tuning.
