I’ve been looking for an original Game Boy for a while. Well today I found one and it was pretty much as good of a deal as one can hope for. A MINT complete in box with all manuals for a measly $20 bucks. To top it off it also came with a spare game boy with a broken screen that I can use for parts if ever I need to.

That’s pretty cool! Might be worth something someday.
Are you actually going to play it? Those old “green-screen” units are terribly hard to see unless you’re in the right kind of light. (Actually they’re not that bad, but when the Game Boy Pocket came along, it was a huge improvement.) Once you upgrade from the green screen it’s hard to go back.

Great buy

I sure do plan on playing it. But I feel you the Gameboy pocket was a huge improvement but for nostalgias sake I wanted the original.

What kind of question is that? Of course I got it.

Not a bad way to take a dump.

Good to hear. Enjoy it like you were a kid getting it on Christmas.

Fuuuuuck yeah! Dude, me and Tetris on one of those was all that happened from years 3-8. Deal of the year!

Hell yeah. I play on my phone with an emulator, but it’s not the same.

That’s the plan.

I agree. It this condition it’s worth at least $80 bucks in my neck of the woods. Doesn’t matter since I’m not ever selling it but it’s nice to know I snagged one of the best ones out there.

Yup totally not the same. It’s hard to beat holding the real thing in your hands.

Heck yeah dude. Super score!

You want a Game Boy Color? I have two that are just sitting, doing nothing... I could certainly part with one of them.

I love that old gaming systems come with parts machines. My brother got a SNES that was the same way. Came with 2 spares in case the original crapped out.

I was given a SNES Complete in box with all manuals by a co-worker. The unit works like a dream but it has that SEVERE yellowing going on.
Ended up finding a crapped out SNES for 20 bucks with a perfect case. I’m taking the guts out of mine and putting it in the clean case.
So now I’ll have a mint SNES complete in box with all manuals for a total investment of $20 bucks.
I must have a horseshoe up the wazoo since I’m having GREAT luck recently.

Dude, now that takes me back to the old road trips I'd go on with my family. Me in the back with Mega Man or Super Mario Bros., playing until the light faded and then continuing to try in the light of the street lamps that passed by. Good times. Good find bro!

I’ll take a look tonight and send you a couple of pictures, then we’ll see on price and shipping options.

Lightly used, plastic still has its original texture. Tiny scratches near top of screen. Light scuffing on battery door. Worked when I put it away a couple years ago, will get some batteries to be sure.
No box, papers, etc. They’re either in storage or disposed of. I love the colour but just don’t play with it, so it’s a waste.

Or the teal one... It’s pretty beat up, though.
Lots of scratches, worn plastic around the buttons, broken battery door and missing the rear label.

I was thinking of hanging it on the wall but really I should keep it in the box for future value.
I plan on doing a full restoration on this game boy. For about 10 bucks in parts and a little bit of time I can quintuplet the value of this thing.
Looking at this thing in box is straight up the same thing as going back in time. A true time capsule

What parts does it need?
![]() 10/21/2015 at 13:00 |

A new protective lens. It doesn’t “need” it but if I want it to be 100% mint I’ll replace it, they are 3 bucks. I want to retr0bright the case to make it as clean as can be. then just take it apart and clean up all the contacts for the d pad and a/b buttons.
It works perfectly fine as it is but it’s so close to being perfect that I won’t be happy until it is.
