Well, this is awkward...
Not too long after announcing that motorsports was not compatible with their new mission, Autosport is reporting that Volvo will enter a pair of S60s in next year’s World Touring Car Championship under the Polestar banner.
As a reminder, here is what Volvo’s Alain Visser said just last December about motorsports.
“Motorsport does not conform with our brand, where we stand for smaller engines and safety. We are therefore pulling out of STCC, for example, as soon as the contracts permits.”

Maybe he meant “Volvo” doesn’t do motorsports but “Polestar” is all about motorsports.

I think the missing puzzle is that the guy you mentioned isn’t responsible for this issue anymore. So yes, they changed course.

Does that include their support for the V8SC?

Shameless plug, Alain Visser moved from Volvo to Geely last week.
A week later, Polestar enters WTCC. It seems like Visser’s views were not popular within Volvo. Well played Volvo, well played.
