I want to do a track day on a real track like that. I don’t care if I have to do it in my hand me down Cavalier, it still looks like the most fun ever.

You should, and it is!
Go out in whatever you can. I can guarantee you’ll learn a ton no matter what car you’re in. It’s worth every penny. The only thing I’d be sure to upgrade before going to a track day are good pads and fluid.

I much prefer this front end, although your car does look nice.

I like my cars, like my women; clean-shaven.
(For anyone who doesn’t get that, the front black bar above the grill of the BRZ is often called a mustache)

It looks smiley so I like it.

The biggest problem is I can’t find a track with more than two corners within a 10 hour drive of my town. :(, but I do have an old Civic and a make shift RallyX track to work out my “pedal to the floor” urges, and I can do it at the safe-ish speed of well under 50mph.

Where do you live?
And rallyx is always good! I’ve been wanting to get some little beater to do that in.

I agree, it’s a sort of evil cheeky grin.
Having said that, the front end of that car (mine) looks a little bit different right now... It got rearranged the day after that photo was taken. Oh well, it’s still driveable.

Haha, I don’t really want to talk about it until everything is sorted. I’ll make a post soon enough!

I picked a random town about an hour east of Duluth, Wawina, and did a quick Google search. You’re right, most everything out there is a drag strip or oval course. But!
You’ve got Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd (approx. 2 hours from my random town choice), which has a 2.5mi road course and clubs that do track days.
Other than that you have a little under a 7 hour drive to most other tracks. With your options being:
Road America in Plymouth, WI (approx. 7 hours from my random town of choice)
Iowa Speedway in Newton, IA (also approx. 7 hours)
Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit, IL (a little under 7 hours)
After those you’re looking at 8+ hours to anywhere.
Brainerd looks pretty promising for you! And the others aren’t unreasonable for doing an event on a long weekend.
If you’ve got a good set of winter tires, I highly encourage you to come out to an ice rallyx event with the Sports Car Club of LaCrosse in LaCrosse/West Salem, WI. About a 5 hour drive from my same random town, but that’s only 30min more than I drive to get to those events. And it’s definitely some of the most fun I’ve ever had in a car.

Haha, that’s fair.

Ice racing would be awesome, especially in the Galant.
I forgot about Road America, however I have entertained the idea of heading down there for a little road trip, and trackday with my brother in law.
The Track in Brainerd, I’ll have to look into. That is pretty exciting.

Brainerd sounds like it’s your best bet, but I’d highly recommend making a long weekend out of a Road America, Iowa Speedway, or Blackhawk Farms event. They’re all about the same distance from you and offers lots of track day opportunities.
