I was just writing about the P-40 today for Fridy’s Aviation History post, and was surprised to learn that it was the British who painted the first shark mouths on their Tomahawks. I always figured it was an American thing with the 1st AVG.

I saw a P-51 this past weekend at an airshow. that thing was glorious to hear flying. childhood dream come true. now i just need to have spare couple million to buy one.

Yeah, it is a bit odd. I kind of think they painted an eye, tried to paint over it and said screw it.
