Why is the Audi R8 5.2 so cheap?

Relatively speaking. Compare it to a Lamborghini of the same year.

I guess Millage is a big thing for these. cause 6k seems to make a lot of difference. They are also almost the same car.

then compare it to a McLaren 12C from 2012

What’s going on with the exotic market right now? Things seem to be all over the place.

Don’t McLarens have horrible depreciation?

One is an Audi, the other is a Lamborghini. Regardless of drivetrain similarities you still have to pay for the bull.

One is an Audi and the other is a Lamborghini . That they’re almost the same car isn’t all that relevant. Buying any of these cars isn’t based on rational thought, it’s purely emotional.

What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet. Shakespeare didn’t understand a name makes an object. An object doesn’t always get to make a name.

Badge premiership.

As for the Macca, it’s a case of the 12C’s initial teething issues and the sudden arrival of the 650S/675LT/570S/540C. But decreasing 12C prices give me more reason to play the lottery more often.

I believe they were around $250k, but at $300k with options.

So the 2C is not half of what it was new. Neat!

I got to drive one through Xtreme Xperience a year ago and it was a really fantastic experience. Incredibly easy to drive fast, all the comfort and polish of an Audi but like 15x more special.

I was just amazed how cheap some 5.2 manual cars with carbon brakes go for with almost no mileage vs msrp. Still never afford one myself.

I took a closer look at that MP4-12C, because I had a sneaking suspicion that it was owned by a student at Purdue University. Although it doesn’t appear to be (but certainly could be, the white -12C around here was for sale in the spring) it has a whopping 5 previous owners.

But, if it were owned by a college student (which there is a huge possibility, international students are buying cars like these like you wouldn’t believe) it most likely was driven poorly, not maintained, driven in snow/ice/salt, and most definitely smoked in. Purdue has both a -12C and a 5.2 r8 right now that are not driven with the best care and will most likely make appearances during the winter months.

Yeah I drove one through a supercar experience too. It was good on track but I feel like it’d make a better GT car. Surprisingly comfortable and super fast and stable.

The 12C keeps dropping because of tweaks and being put new cars constantly that are better. People that buy super cars do it for investment often and so they've killed their own sales by releasing better cars instead of minor tweaks.

You know, it’s not a bad thing really. They may be doing it to make them more accessible for more people to buy their cars.

I would gladly take one. I think they've been upping their bar and making new models to compete better. I think they'll level out
