I looked at a car being sold by the local Drivetime lot, not really knowing much about the company. Sort of like CarMax? Whatever.
So I sent them an online inquiry about a car, and the next thing I know my office phone is being inundated with voicemail, probably 3 or 4 a day, that I’ve been approved for my loan and I should come down today and sign before the car I want to buy is sold to another top-flight customer! Hurry! Today!
I was finally in when someone called, and already being in a shit mood reamed them so badly my boss, who’s a former trial lawyer, whistled and said, “Daaaaaamn,” from the other side of the office.
But seriously, screw those guys.
Any other similar issues from other Opponauts?

I’ve never been to one, but the general impression I’ve gotten is that they’re the Walmart version of Buy-Here-Pay-Here lots.

I once filled out an application for an Enterprise used car just to get an idea of what loan I would be approved for. The calls were relentless for about 2 days before I finally answered and told the guy that I wasn’t able to afford a car right now (and he tried to convince me they could work something out) and I hung up in the middle of his spiel.

Nationwide company that’s really just a buy here pay here lot. Overpriced, push a bad warranty, and not worth it if you have a FICO score higher than 400.

They will deny you a car if your credit is too good. You need to be desperate for their business model. They are the opposite-world CarMax.
