It’s YOUR car and don’t let this so called “enthusiast” website tear your wants down. You make that car exactly how you want and don’t let others tell you otherwise. You like it slammed? Slam it as far down as you can go! Like camber? Make those wheels angled enough to use in mathematical equations! Car culture is about expression and creating something beautiful. Don’t let those who believe that youth car culture is dead get the best of you. These are the best years of your life so live them to the fullest!

Most of us here have zero issue with the stance scene from an enthusiast perspective.

It is that more often than not the mods needed to achieve that look are dangerous, highly suspect, and in many places around this country blatantly illegal.

We, at least myself, are not ‘hating’ because we dislike that style; though that is often the case. Style is always subjective though.

The reason stance gets so much derision is that those cars are very frequently a danger to everyone on the road around them.

Stancers have two options: Stop breaking the law. Or stop complaining when they get caught.

Decisions and actions have consequences. Follow the rules, or quit bitching when you get caught.

In my opinion car culture has more to do with how you live and experience it, how you approach it as a social phenomenon and what it leaves in you than about creating anything. You can have the blandest of cars and experience the highest of joys with it. Making it stand out is for show, so others see you, identify you as part of x group and in turn you might feel approved in your actions. Feeling disrespected when other people criticize stance is not practical, as it exists to generate a reaction, a call for attention. As legitimate as any other car subculture? Yes, but with some worrying issues around safety.

Good point, but I keep seeing posts where stance is apparently an abomination. I’m sorry, but where the hell is the car customization bible that says that this isn’t allowed? Let someone do whatever they want to their car (in the legal limit of course).

Expression is one thing, making a vehicle a hazard to other vehicles on the road is another. As a show piece, feel free to trailer your stanced ride anywhere. Keep them off the streets if they do not conform to the uniform vehicle code in your state.

They are getting laughed at and pulled over because the cars are blatantly illegal.

I wouldn’t stance a car where I live and it’s not because of the roads. It’s because people in trucks already have their bumper to the level of my window and I’m in a 4Runner. Stanced, I’d be afraid to get run over.

That goes for both. But, in my experience. The trucks were just loud and obnoxious.

The cars, Ive seen stuck in the middle of busy roads and driving around on contact patches the size of a stick of bubble gum.

Lifted trucks can turn a minor accident into a total loss. Seen it happen a couple times and another time when some idiot simply lost control, swerved over and onto a bollard protecting a parking lot and lodged their truck there, had the bollard not been there they could have easily destroyed two or three cars. Never seen that happen with a lowered car. That’s not to say they aren’t in accidents or don’t cause them, but if somebody driving like a jackass rear ends me, I’d rather they be in a lowered car than in a lifted truck. (full disclosure: had a car totalled by a slightly lifted truck which rear ended me at a stop light, and my brother nearly died when he was T-boned by an Excursion driver who ran a stop sign. So I’ve had enough of that bullshit.)

For me it’s not that they shouldn’t be doing stance for safety purposes. Most stuff is okay. Once in a while you will see someone who actually is putting them self in danger but that’s a different story. For me it’s their ego, the majority of the stance bros think they’re the shit and they know everything because they’ve put their cars on either coil overs or bags, bought expensive three piece wheels and did mods like cold air intake and exhaust. I the more I learn the more I realize I dont know, but at least the people I’ve seen, they think they know everything.
