I’m 6’3, 320 lbs, and have a 30” inseam. Here I am in an NC Miata:

From a 5’1” me to a 6’3” Steve. MX5 is for all!

Doesn’t look very fun though.

Would you describe the situation as sitting in a Miata or wearing a Mitata?
![]() 10/05/2015 at 17:14 |

It’s more wearing it but still, I fit in it.

Even me, at 6’0” with a 32” waist (Levis’ size) ends up wearing an NB.

What if say, your legs were 6” longer like mine. Can you actually shift and steer? I’m 6’ 4” (190) with a honest 36” inseam and cannot actually physically operate the damn thing.

I’m 6’5”. Excuse made.

My legs are an inch longer than yours, yet I’m 5 inches shorter. Weird, lol.

I’m at 6’5”, 34” inseam and no you can’t really effectively shift and steer, my knees interfere with those bits in an NC. Also I’m looking at the top of the windshield because I have to put the seat more upright to get it back far enough, which is annoying.
Sorry to dash any hopes. While I doubt it will be, I am gonna have to go to a dealer and see if the ND is a better fit.

Likewise. I’ve tried, no dice, knees interfere with steering wheel and shifter and I’m staring at the top of the windshield instead of through it.

Have the seats been trimmed, or has the rail been modified?
![]() 10/05/2015 at 17:23 |

That’s been my experience with every miata, my right knee is just jammed between the steering wheel and the shifter. With my legs splayed liked I’m trying to suntan my junk.
![]() 10/05/2015 at 17:25 |

That’s what I thought. I too have 34” inseam. It was an issue when trying to drive a similarly sized Sky. Other issue might be pedal spacing, I have size 13 feet.

6’7” and 190. I barely fit on the passenger side, and even then my knees touch the dash.

Factory stock. No modifications. It’s getting orangey-tan leather because the cloth seats are ripped and it’s hard to sell with torn seats.

Yep, exactly my experience. I fit worse in a Miata than my Karmann Ghia. I’m sure the Miata could be modified to make me fit, but who wants to mess with that?

After getting a good taste of autocross this summer, I’m tempted...

Anybody look into leg shortening surgery?
![]() 10/05/2015 at 17:39 |

If I were in the Miata market, I’d frankly probably veer off and buy a Z3. Not as popular around here, but they drive plenty nice, have a bit more power, and noticeably more room.
For just an autocrosser, can’t fight the Miata though

I’m 6’2, about 240, and have a 32” inseam. I am, however, spectacularly bendy. I drove a Rabbit pickup for a while, which has about 3” less driver’s seat movement than a normal Rabbit. This included 4+ hour drives. To illustrate further: I can put my feet behind my head. I AM PRETZELMAN

Fuck this shit, 5’ 11” masterrace.

No, not recently sorry.
![]() 10/05/2015 at 17:51 |

Once I’m in, it isn’t so bad. It’s better with the top down, but that’s true of any roadster.
![]() 10/05/2015 at 17:53 |

I can shift and steer. In an NA, not as well. If I don’t have small shoes, they don’t really fit in the pedal box.
![]() 10/05/2015 at 17:54 |
|
What if you have skinny legs? Would it be manageable with a 34” inseam then?
![]() 10/05/2015 at 18:24 |

6’3” and I barely fit in the ND. :( The rails would have to go for sure.
![]() 10/05/2015 at 18:35 |

I mean sure, I’m 6’4” and can get in and close the door. I can’t physically move my legs but I do technically fit.
![]() 10/05/2015 at 18:38 |

In an NB I have to look over the windshield to drive. With the NC I can drop the seat enough to fit OK to drive.
![]() 10/05/2015 at 18:48 |
|
I’m fairly skinny so unless you’re a stick figure I’d say it’ll still be a problem. Everyone is different though so the only way to know for sure is to try.

I honestly don’t get this. I’m 6’2” 34 inner leg and can’t put the seat all the way back on my NA because I can’t get the full pedal travel if I do. I was totally prepared not to fit when I went looking for one and was genuinely shocked by how much space I had.

The last time I drove an NA Miata was years ago and it was ok as far as the seat and top went but the pedal box seemed really small for my size 12E Doc Martens.

I can’t drive anything in boots, I used to have recurring nighmare of trying to drive in flippers and it always feels like that. Unless I have no choice I wear an old pair of converse.

Usually I wear my regular shoes, New Balance runners because I’m a fat boy with high arches. When I have to get into something with a tiny pedal box I’ll wear these:
