The 3rd gen Sable probably is much closer styling wise to the 929, a car that does appeal to me as well...

Many won’t think its anything special really. I think its a great example of what Mazda was capable of almost 25 years ago, a great looking car with some very interesting gadgets. Automatic solar-powered A/C while the car is being parked to keep it nice and cool inside. In 1992. How awesome is that?

That is indeed extremely cool. One could think Mazda’s coolest days are behind it but then you realize that even the cars they’re making today are actually really good.
