They usually go for about $1200 on Ebay in mint condition. A black m6 and a Zeiss 35mm f/2 would be a wonderful setup for street photography. Also NO BATTERIES!

After shooting with a Leica it's hard to go back to other cameras. Pictured is my gf's Leica M4. Hence the pink ribbons haha go for it!

Here's mine. I've mentioned it to you once or twice. This is the non TTL version, so it actually reads Leitz in the red dot, not Leica. They do take button batteries, but you don't have to use them. Only if you want to use the built in exposure meter. Its really fun, buttery smooth and just all around sexy. Built like a brick shit house for sure.

I got mine from B&H used department, but it was somehow never opened. I almost didn't want to open it, but when I spend almost 2 grand on something, I want to use it dammit. Its in storage, but I still have the unopened warranty card and all the good stuff.

So far only have developed one roll from it, and they were mostly all overexposed. I'm still learning proper exposures, since the thing has no assists outside of two red arrows that may or may not be accurate. I'll have to look through my computer and see if I can find any pictures worth posting from that roll. I have a couple other rolls that need to develop, but it's quite a pain since I don't have any counter space to work on in my apartment.

Also, from what I've been reading, the price of the M6 are starting to tick upwards. Still not as expensive as an M3, they are starting to catch up. I've read a lot of people who say that the M6 is the best after the M3. So if you want to invest in one, sooner is probably better if you can swing the cost.

Also, sorry for the terrible iTater pic. Lighting in my apartment is God-awful.

If I hadn't just got myself a DJI drone, I would be there with you.

I want a Leica just to own one, much less actively shoot with one. I don't think I could do film, I do way too much high speed car antics for that to be remotely feasible (with my skill set) but it would still be amazing to use one for other things.

Wasn't it you that posted about just getting a (quite nice) Leica 90mm f/4 lens (lense?) the other day for your Alpha 7 (I think)? If so, you're a mad man!

I'm sort of in an odd spot with camera's. Part of me wants to get a DSLR, because I'm a mid-grade gear freak. But then I'm told that for the bulk of just walking around day-to-day photography, a Coolpix 7800 is a damn fine alternative (housemate used to be a pro photog in the 80's and 90's...he was telling me that the lens/lense glass on the Nikon makes it a better alternative than it's Sony or Cannon Counterparts (amongst other things). I know fuckall about that, so I take him for his word.)

I kinda chuckle at "street photography." It always feels to me like it's an excuse to buy overly expensive semi-lightweight camera gear in order to sneak pictures of random people.

(I have an Olympus mirrorless camera and several lenses. I suppose I should be a street photographer.)

Well, like they say, the best camera is the one you have on you. A decent point-and-shoot (or, honestly, a good smartphone camera) that you actually carry is better than the DSLR you left at home. I mean, I prefer shooting on my (ancient) DSLR, but I'm starting to hear the siren call off mirrorless systems simply for bulk reasons.

And I'm a Canon girl, myself, but you have a hard time going wrong with either them or Nikon for lenses. Lot of it comes down to whose cameras you prefer.

I have a very early M6, supposedly from the 2nd production batch according to the s/n listing at cameraquest.com. As others note, smooth as buttah...the early ones have slightly weird light meters. Also nabbed a new in box M7 from a store that closed so not stupid money...the aperture priority is very convenient.

Best snag was a pre-asph 35/2 Summicron for under $900...my favorite lens. Had a Noctilux, sold it as it made the camera just heavy and awkward....

Yep that's me, though I have a sony a5100 BIGGG diffrence between that and the a7! Lol

I dislike carrying around a DSLR, they're big, clumsy, and not exactly inconspicuous on the street. I prefer mirrorless camers for that reason!
