Promised E28 video. Great video, I wish I had such a Jalop family! M5 stroker, 535is sitting pretty on some gold BBS wheels, and a nicely stock 528e. All manual of course! Enjoy.

Can you really call a family who only buys one type of car "jalop"? Isn't "jalop" all about variety? This is just the elitist version of those families that only buy camrys.

If they had, say, an E24, 1G DSM, and a G-Body, THAT would be a jalop family.

This? This is just people being stubborn and sticking to ONLY ONE GENERATION OF ONE MODEL OF ONE CAR COMPANY.

Swap out the E24s for, say, first gen Priuses. See what I mean? It's not being jalop! It's being unimaginative!

Did you watch the video? They bought them all for less than $10k and work on them at home. What's more Jalop than that?

um.....not picking only one type of car to work on? That's not jalop, that's the service area of a dealership.

I am interested to know what the dad owned in the past, and what the kid will end up owning down the line.

yeah great video. I'm also curious to see what the son will drive down the road. His E28 is very clean, I'm really loving the wheels.

I see where you are coming from.. And you are kind of right.. But c'mon.

All cars purchased under $10k, manual, and daily driven. All work is done in the garage. What's not to love? Sure some diversity would make it more Jalop, but tell me a family that daily drives classic manual inline 6 sedans isn't pretty Jalop? The kid could have picked any cheap bmw, yet he chose the measly E28. Not even an M5.

Just sayin'.....if my kid picks the same car as me, I will be touched.

....then I'll slap a for sale sign on it and tell him to think for his damn self.

This video made me miss my first car, an '84 528e... I bought it off a neighbor for $200 at 300,000 miles and put another 20k on it over a year and a half before selling it for the same price. It was an automatic and rusting out in our new england winters, but none of that really mattered when I was 16 and had a German RWD car with leather seats, sunroof, and a straight 6 that just ran so smooth. I got plenty of experience hanging the tail out through the winter and on dirt back roads and fields, and never once did it complain. I was just saying if I found another e28 today I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

Bollocks. Being Jalop is an attitude, not what you drive.

As chance would have it I'm going to look at an E28 520i manual on Monday. Not as a keeper, but as a car to drive around for a month then sell on for a profit.

Still, should be a cool car to drive :)

That's what I'm saying. Part of that attitude is not pigeonholing yourself into one single model of one single brand. That's not jalop. That's being a fanboy.

That depends. I haven't watched the video so I don't know what they're like speaking, but I can see someone having an appreciation for a whole host of cars while only really wanting to drive one of them.

If they constantly harp on about how the E28 is the best car in the whole wide world, then they'd be fanboys. If it's just their favourite car, then that's fine :)

Just watched the video and I can see where you got the fanboy impression from. Still cool people though, they don't seem overbearing at all.
