I found a downside to proximity keys. Mine fell out of my pocket and I'm pretty sure it's under the carpet (not mat) under my seat. Can't find it at all and can't lock my car now.
EDIT: found it. It was resting on top of the part that goes in the track that slides the seat back and forth.

You should be able to lock it with the other key until you can find the lost one. My wife would leave her purse/key in my Escape and I could always lock it with my key.
And before you ask, yes we tested that a stranger couldn't unlock the car with the touch door locks.

Good to know. Just found it. I thought I was gonna have to take apart the interior. There are 2 holes in the carpet to allow some wiring and the floor vent through. Just big enough to allow the key in.

Things you can also lose: normal keys.
Glad you found it!
