The stig actually is part of a race of savants. Not all have the skill of driving so Top Gear actually has a farm where they select the ones that will be the successor to the current stig. The original stig was black before transitioning to white.

What's your final take on Top Gear 1? I thought it was somewhere between boring and amateurish to utter crap. Let's be honest. Looked like they were using an Amiga with a Video Toaster.

Got waaaaay better when they picked up May, and the production quality, content and humor ramped up very quickly after season one. That first season though... weeeeeow.
