So I have heard some people rave about the exhaust on this guy lately. I think it does sound pretty good in the higher rev ranges, but I just can't get on board at the idle and low revs, it sounds too clankety almost and artificially deep.
I know some people drive them here, and I'm not trying to put down the car. I just never realized how it sounded, and was a tad bit disappointed.

If we're talking stock, this is a great sound. Aftermarket is always going to be better.
but this, it's just unexpected from a car of this class

Even better is the Dart 1.4T which shares this engine. The Dart has a muffler, but the Abarth doesn't.
It's even more unexpected from a compact family sedan that competes with the Civic and Corolla.

You might like the Dart 1.4T then. It adds a muffler for less of the low rev artificial clankety shit. Still good up high, though.

Sounds better under load, plus backfire.

I test drove one 4 times and was pretty convinced I was going to buy it (I would have but insurance would have been over $1000 more per year), and I can honestly say it sounds so much better in person. Especially under load. Go drive one, and hit that sports mode button. You won't be able to stop grinning. Ever.

I think that particular video makes it sound deeper than it really is in person.

Small car big sound? This is king here

That sounds way the hell better. Though idle still is a bit goofy. I suppose I'd have to go after market.

Definitely improves the Idle, but it seems to kill the higher rev range slightly. Still pretty good all around, though. I'm surprised I've never heard one of those on the street before, now that I'm thinking about it.

The stock Abarth exhaust sounds a bit uncivilized at idle, but the popping noises it makes when you lift off the throttle near the redline to upshift balance it out.
