I know this isn't the time or place but it is vehicle related and I just cried laughing. (Funny thing after the jump)

I saw that stupid sack of dogshit a few years back in one of my early engineering classes during a lecture about how you need to think out of the box because the future is what we make it. Then the video happened. And I debated switching majors to accounting...

I learned in engineering school that those who can't do, teach. Seriously, my senior design adviser had his head so far up his ass with batshit fucking stupid ideas like this that he wanted us to concept. Finally the engineering chair sat in on one of our design reviews and what's this fucker do? Throws us under the bus when the department chair goes "what the hell were you thinking?"
I guess when you've got a bunch of 22 year old guys together that haven't been screwed in the work place you may as well screw them before they even have degrees. I almost didn't graduate because of that hack.

My current Senior Design adviser is retired from doing and is now teaching solely because he thinks we might benefit. And he's really good at both doing and helping us do.
Sounds like you had a shitty adviser.

We did. If I ever find myself in a position where I am a "customer" for senior design and he is involved, I'm going to call him out on his bullshit.
Never in the engineering world should someone say, "you did great guys but it doesn't have a 'wow factor.' Can you add a 'wow factor?'" In other words, you did what we asked but now we want it to be more complicated. Fortunately, in industry, I just tell them that we met the initial requirements and the new stuff is going to take more time and money. Usually as soon as you mention money, it shuts down the crazy ideas. Things I've learned in real life.

We just had our first briefing today. The group that was presenting got shot down hard for jumping to conclusions too fast and going for the gusto. They spent too much time on preparing the presentation and not enough on working the problem.
But, seriously, "wow" factor? Getting your shit done while satisfying requirements on time and under budget is a "wow" factor all by itself.
