In double cab, 4WD guise with the 4.3L V6, the Silverado weighs less than my Safari.
The same 4.3L engine makes almost double the power it does in my Safari.
So, really, the 4.3 V6 is probably perfectly capable for the Silverado. Meaning my thought that you'd need the 5.3 V8 for it to even be livable is totally wrong.
You learn new things everyday.
I can't believe a full-size truck weighs less than my "mini" van.
Silly 80's engineering, making everything overweight.

Not exactly the same, but similar.

Only in being 90 degree V6's being 4.3L in displacement. Yes, they are both cut down from Small Block Chevy's, but the LT1 based 4.3 is a completely different animal than the old 4.3L
