So they only recapture 12% of the clay in recycling? That doesn't seem like too good of a return.

If/when it hits the floor and gets dust or grit in it, it's not re-usable. A lot of what's milled off (as opposed to hand-scraped) comes off too fine to be reusable, too. I'm actually surprised they get that much back.
