But you gave to have a hard top to be on a track right? How is that tall bar going to fit under a hard top?

You don't have to have a hardtop to be on a track. Spec Miata requires one but most tracks themselves don't.

Most tracks require that open-roof cars have some kind of rollover protection. But not necessarily a hardtop.
Many cars pass this requirement from the factory, if they have fixed roll hoops behind the seats. But usually convertibles with pop-up roll hoops doesn't qualify. Which effectively means, most convertibles with back seats, since typically only 2-seaters come with fixed roll hoops from the factory. 2+2s tend to have the pop-up roll hoops.
