No problem! I'd recommend not going too far above a 250, if you want something higher than that DON'T get a sport bike. Just remember that you'll want to spend as little as you can get away with, you WILL drop the bike. Maybe even several times. Sorry I'm not o more help, but I can't search around at the moment.
Best of luck! And please, stay safe and don't become a statistic.

I will definitely will try not to be statistic. My dad has a steel plate in his left shoulder so i will be wearing proper gear and not just a helmet.

Ninja 250's are cheap and plentiful and great starter bikes. If you can find a used ninja 300 for that price it would be great too. Just a tad faster than a 250 same ease to ride

Ninja 250 is perfect. I started on a ninja 500, you would be OK either way. They can be fixed with a hammer. I dropped mine a lot and it kept on going.
For that price, you can get a really nice one. Take $1000 off of that for good gear first. Depending on the area, you can get a running 250 for like $1000

I would like to get a GROM, but i don't live in Baltimore I live in Westminster Md. Westminster is half city half country so i need something that can do 70mph comfortably on the open road.

Father in law has the little 250 sport thingy. He hates long rides on it, but we are city/country here and it handles it all very nicely. He had to ride my 1300 cruiser to my house and he had a look I would have killed over in his eyes, if it had been looking at my wifei stead of the bike ( and yes its her father, but I meant somone who wasn't you pervs).
It's the Miata of sportbikes. Fun slow, and you don't care...

I've heard wonderful things about the Honda CBR250, honda rebel, and my personal favorite, the Suzuki tu250x! I mean look how cool it looks! All of these bikes lightly used should fit into your price range!

A Grom will only get you low 60s. I would say a Ninja 250 is what you want.

Not likely to find a Ninjo 300 that cheap since they're pretty new. Used Ninja 250 or Suzuki TU250; Ninja 500 or Suzuki EX500 also make great starter motorcycles that have potential to remain entertaining longer & are more comfortable for extended highway trips than the 250s.
Definitely set aside a good chunk of your budget for quality gear. $2000-2500 should still put you on a good first motorcycle. Take the MSF class, too.

My first bike was a 600cc kawi. Obviously did not kill myself. But admittedly it was too much bike for me. Get a 250cc Beater or 500cc if you've riden some bikes aka dirty bikes in the past.

Yeah your right after a while a 250cc will be like a "Snail on a turtle's back WEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!", But my parents will not let me get anything bigger until I turn 21 poop.

2003, zx6rr. First year with a slipper clutch. It was the homologated 600cc class bike for kawi. It was really wasn't the best first bike for me. It sat a bit too wide, the cbr 600 fit me better. The engine was punchy for a beginner. I rolled it once into a grassy ditch breaking my commercial bicycle squeak horn. I noticed it gone about 3 miles after I got the bike back up and rode off. I rode back and got it. I didn't want to get the "fear" so I rode the bike continually after that. I was lucky. I really should have gotten a 500cc or hell a 250cc. But once I get something I want to keep it, I don't like the idea of getting another faster bike 2-3 years later because the smaller cc bike is now too slow for me. But I would of been better off
