Finnish experimental speedboat named sikari (cigar in English). It was built in 1929 and it's powered by Ford flathead v8. Couple old cine film clips below.

They go even further than late 20's. I think the first speedboats were built in the early 1900's or 1910's.

Yeah, this one had top speed of 50 knots so it definitely wasn't slow.
