We always fall in love with the concepts/renders/could be's and get crestfallen when the reality is unveiled?
Are we to blame for having expectations that couldn't be met? Or is it the architects who translate concept into reality who drop the ball by not looking up and seeing what everyone is raving about on the internet and what hot drawings are going around?
I'm looking at you, ND. Also broader themes about expectation vs reality, but mostly you, ND.
I'd appreciate your comments below.
I'm going to bed now. To wake up at 4:30. To try an early morning gym session this time. Maybe I'll be too groggy to notice that I'm dying on the treadmill.

To be honest, I don't think they screwed the pooch.
The proportions are there and the weight drop of 100 kilos is there. And it's smaller outside, bigger inside. It looks good and modern enough that every demographic will buy it, not just enthusiasts. And 10-15 years down the line, you can get one for a couple grand a beat on it till wheels fall off. That's what the new a Miata needs to be. Period.
As far as power goes, though no figures have been released yet, it all points to the 150HP Skyactiv-G. That's fine for the base, but we all know we'll get something in the neighbourhood of 200HP for the loud version. As always aftermarket is the answer.
Now, why is everyone so hung up on styling? Which personally I'm really fine with, nay, enjoy. The Fiat/Alfa/Abarth will get the happier, more feminine styling. If that's not good enough, you can still go nuts with aftermarket.
I'm pretty sure the manufacturers these days aren't stupid enough to realise aftermarket doesn't exist. Why not give us a nice blank slate instead? Most people won't care anyway.
The original Miata wasn't a hugely stylised car, it was very tame, in fact. It's always been a bloody japanese econo-car, for crying out loud. Hipsters jerking off to stuff they didn't even notice back in the day is making me sick.
Random bit of thought: If you weigh fun vs headache, this thing trumps the Alfa 4C all day, every day and at half the price.
Well, you did ask for comments... Have an old Miata. I want a really rough one, so I can go nuts on it, like this guy.
