It may not be car related, but I was commissioned to design a floor lamp AND IT TURNED OUT OK!!!!111!. I work in interior & furniture design, yet this was my first furniture piece commission so I was terrified it would come out the other end like a bent metal mess.
Thankfully It looks good , its robust and its finished nicely.
Also Here is a fleet photo for your troubles. Both babies washed and waxed last weekend.

I like it!
Although the bottom would collect my dogs hair, and require constant cleaning, I would still buy it over a conventional lamp.

It is already covered in hair now from my husky. After a year, you just accept it. Your once spotless house is a constant hair graveyard.

Wow, that design is impressive. It reminds me of something Ikea would sell on the higher end. (Take that as a compliment in my book) It matches the furniture set I got from there very well.

I few friends I showed it too said its very "Ikea-like" which is a compliment thank you . They employ high end designers , so its a massive compliment.

That's gorgeous. It's a bit modern for my decor, but I like it. I dig the flat wall plug, too. I hate the ones that stick out. Give it some weird Swedish-ish name (Fløørlämp) and call Ikea.

Perspex vase and bent and cut Aluminium. I used matte black spray from my old car to finish it off. The weight is dispersed evenly because of a clever weight inside the vase.
