Patrick "Rocket" Richard has announced his retirement via Facebook today. The multi-time Canadian and American Rally Champion has enjoyed a productive relationship with Subaru Canada and has long been a fan favorite. Unfortunately, Richard will not be exiting the sport on his own terms, but instead at the advice of his doctor.
I have a serious neurological illness believed to have been caused by a series of head injuries. Although I am now out of the hospital after a two-month stay, I am mostly confined to my home. I'm hopeful I'll recover fully but it's really unlikley I'll be driving competitively again.
