1m. It's a better investment, it's rare, and they're so damn fun!

1M, because it's more special

1M. I like the look of it more, and I wouldn't trust myself with a Z06.

427 smallblock is losing?!?! How can this be? I've seen both in action and the Z06 is a hoot, especially in the rain.

I'm having more trouble choosing than I should...
On one hand, it's my favorite BMW.
On the other, LS7 powered Corvette.
Fuck man.

Easiest question I have had to answer all day

1M. Even tough it is rare, I see a lot of them on the streets and for sale in my city.

1M because could sell for more money than Corvette and buy something less ugly.

1M, for the same reasons others have listed; rarity and if you maintain it very well it's an investment. I'm certain that they will be collectors cars one day, especially given how fanboyish BMW guys can be. I also just love how they look.

LS7 Dammit Logansteno! It's a 4 2 7 S M A L L B L O C K. With a 7,000 RPM Redline. Although it is my favorite modern BMW as well. If it was a Z/28 though I'd have to smack you if you even had to think about it.
![]() 08/26/2014 at 17:22 |

Oh no, if it was a Z/28 it wouldn't be a contest.
(I voted Z06 anyway)

I am definitely and M car guy, however in this comparo, I have to go 'vette. Sure it exudes a certain attitude that I may not like, and it may be wide, long, and have no space inside, but its so hard to beat performance-wise. I think its the cheapest way to get into a real race-ready car with modern performance that rivals just about anything else at track day.

Good Man.

actually, when talking the same vintage, the corvette costed more. By about 25 grand in fact.

I have a 135is which I think is pretty great. The 1M is even better.
I also rather like the C6. The Z06 is silly good, although I personally would rather have a roof that opens up.
I think I'd take the Z06.
Sure the 1M is holding its value pretty well and you could probably take a very small depreciation hit. But that only matters when it comes time to sell the car, and Corvettes hang on to their value reasonably well. At least better than a typical, mainstream car.
You can get a used, still low miles Z06 for way less than a 1M, and the Z06 will run away from the 1M in pretty much any performance category. At least comparing my 135is to the base C6 I tried recently, the BMW has much better steering and more interior room. But it's hard to argue with the performance of the Z06.

Z06. At that price point I want more raw performance.

Z06 easy. My dad had one a couple years ago in orange and it was fucking amazing. Also the 1-series has always looked kinda ugly and misproportioned to me. Also I'd rather have a track car for the street than a luxury coupe made to go fast

Fun fact: the "red line" on the tac is at 7,000 but the car actually revs to 7,200. They did this to make sure it would get to 62mph(100kph) in first gear.

Ah cool stuff. I always loved the C6 Z06 but I fell massively head over heels after watching a guy give one the beans at a flooded autocross in a banked oval blaring that exhaust against the walls giving it a good deal more than a dab of Oppo. The guy could drive.
![]() 08/26/2014 at 21:49 |

Thats awesome! I wish I was a better driver. When I go on group drives, people always want to be the car right behind me. Everyone just wants to listen to this car. It also helps that I have had the butterfly valve side of the exhaust turned into true straight pipes!

How is this a tie? I mean, don't get me wrong, I like the 1M. A lot. But this is a 427-powered Corvette we're talking about. ZO6 all day long.

I'm having more trouble choosing than I should...
So was I!
But listen: The 1M is rare. Uncommon. Not easy to get. And it's the Last Of The Mohicans as far as a car that drives Like That is concerned.
In comparison, Vettes grow on trees.
Most likely, you can always get a Vette.
But this freaking 1M will soon be impossible to obtain, or nearly impossible.
Right now, a C6 Z06 and a 1M cost roughly the same. This parity will not last.
I'm voting BMW 1M. It's adorable and it's a sweet little beast.
And, most likely, there will always be Corvettes. (And, I like the C5 Z06 more anyhow.)
Edit: For what it's worth, I'd look to keep the 1M for as long as I could get away with. Considering that the parts are apparently hopped up 335i hardware, this shouldn't be too difficult.

50/50! Very nice!
The 1M 50% (43 votes)
The Z06 50% (43 votes)
Total Votes: 86
