I promise St. Louis isn't always as fucked up as it's been lately.
This whole situation is gonna like a mark on the city's name for sure though.
Have some cars that were built in St. Louis:
The Corvette was built in St. Louis from 1954-ish to 1981.
The Dodge Charger was built in Chrysler's St. Louis Assembly plant from 1968 to 1974.
The new Colorado and Canyon are being built in GM's Assembly plant in St. Louis.

so were explorers, and others at ford Hazlewood plant, along with ram trucks & caravans at the Fenton plant.
Boeing is in StL also and they make & retrofit the F-15 & F-16 fighter jets.
Do they still make full size vans in wentzville?

I love that song.
"I'm goin down down baby, yo' street in a Range Rover..." Such a catchy tune!! Very wholesome! Awesome!
"Street sweeper baby, cocked ready to let it go". YeWAIT. WAT.

I don't know much about St. Louis, but that giz article made it seem like there have been rich/poor/black/white problems for decades

Yup! My dad does maintenance at the factory that makes the seats for the full size vans.

We all seem to blend pretty well for the most part IMO.
Are they're occasionally problems? Yeah, but what cities don't have their share of problems sometimes?

Admittedly, it was the burbs (Chesterfield to be precise), but growing up in St. Louis was great. Got a better sense of community and a more wholesome childhood there than I did when we moved to California. Sure, the hot and humid summers are miserable, and the winters were equally bad (not much snow, just freezing cold), but spring and fall were great.

I think most cities are economically segregated. The magnifying glass is currently on St Louis though

Wouldn't be a wide-spread daily story without the PD completely not at all handling the situation well and acting like MPs. Though PD departments thinking they are the MPs and we are the occupied refugees is a part of the nationwide problem.

Very sad to see these things happening in a city I know so well...
Grew up in Jeff City, but have always had family in and around St. Louis - even had a uncle who lived in Ferguson for many years.
Hoping and praying for peace, justice and healing.
