Zoe: How could you do this to me?
Me: I promise it's only for tonight. You know I need the money.
Zoe: But with THAT!?!? She's hideous! How could you give her as much time as me!
Me: I swear, it's only for the money. I don't feel the same about her. I don't love her. I'm just pretending.
Zoe: I can't believe it. You're kicking me out of my own house to service this bitch.
Me: Damnit, this is the last time. I swear.
I should probably explain.
Zoe is my 300ZX
Priscilla is what I decided to name my neighbor's Prius (Plug in). The name seems appropriate. Priscilla is a girl who you don't really love. You'll date her, but you don't really care. There's no passion in the relationship. You see girls like her everywhere, but you wouldn't really lust after them, nor would you lust after her. And in the end, you know you'll be the one to dump her, never the other way around.
I was hired to detail his Prius (For $50) and thought about poor Zoe getting kicked out of her own home to make room for something so ugly.

in that second picture; the way Zoe is parked, she looks really really sad. As if saying, "How could you do this to me!?"
Be careful. People like Priscilla can get kinda clingy and might try and outlast their stay!

Unless it was a SLIGHTLY decent car
I'd tell my neighbor to go to Griot's.

$50 to detail a car (even a Prius), your neighbour is getting a bargain.
I don't change as I enjoy it and once, someone offered £50 ($83) (he said the going rate to have a car given a good clean) to do his car and I was, hmmm not sure if joking especially as I use about £95 ($158) in products and nine hours work.
So now I kindly decline money as it saves on any awkwardness.

I honestly did't do that much. He considers detailing a wash and vacuum plus a little of polish.

Happy days, your quids in fella (or rather dollars in friend).
I've a Vauxhall Corsa J to do for a friend. It's an 18th birthday present as he needs a car now he's in the army. I've only 10 hours to get rid of six years of abuse and bring her back to almost new condition.
As long as you and the car owner are happy then all is good.

I think you should turn your passion into a small business man.
But that's just me.

Thanks man. I've had five job offers and two people offer to pay the £60,000 start up to start the business and manage it for me but I just enjoy the relaxation and the smile on my friends faces when I make their second most expensive purchase look new.

Mhm, once a year I spend about $300 on a great detail.

Mine gets done almost fortnightly but by me. I know friends in the business charge between £250 ($414) and £1,350 ($2,238) depending on the level of work and finish desired.

I live across the pond in a place where the USD goes farther than anywhere else in the US besides Mississippi. I bet $300 goes farther here than $414 goes in the UK lol.

Detailing means slightly different over this side though. You guys and gals have detailing which is in essence car cleaning as a whole where we call it valeting (ie wash'n'wax shampoo, vacuum and dress the tyres), detailing is what we call more thorough cleaning (ie attention to detail. snow foam or prewash, shampoo, de-tar, de-iron, rewash, dry, polish and seal with wax, sealant or coating, etc...). A valet can go for £15-70 ($25-116) a detail can start at £50 ($93) for basic-basic (valet) up to and not including a full bottom up clean and paint correction £4,000 ($6,630). I've heard of one (actually I know the guy, top bloke) 127 hour detail on an Enzo that had a crack in the front splitter after a small 'collision' on the Gumball rally, every part that could be removed was removed and cleaned and polished off the car (I think I've posted the car before as it was still in the garage when I went down to see him), he won't say how much that cost but I'd hate to think.

Um yeah, I live in Arkansas. Unless you are ridiculously wealthy it is retarded to spend that much for maintenance cleaning. You can't drive around here without getting your ride dirty, it's a fact of life.

Some of us usually end up cleaning the car every other day in the winter or using a temporary but very easy to apply sealant like CarPro Hydro2 or Gyeon Wetcoat. Which are good, wet the car, shampoo, rinse and then spray on product and pressure rinse off, all done.
