Just kidding. I like the X-Type, actually quite a lot. I don't know about *this* X-Type, but on the whole, depending on what your want from a car, I would recommend one, regardless of underpinnings.

I have absolutely no problem with the X-Type. It might be based on a Mondeo, but I go with the notion of "what's wrong with a Mondeo?".

Also, its just shy of 150k miles so if some idiot crashes into you because they didnt think they needed snow tires till winter, then its like Eh, it was cheap and it lived good life

I have an 04 3.0 with the 5 speed and sports suspension, have to say that it's quite fun in the snow.

That's right! It's a freaking AWD V-6 Mondeo with Ghia-level trim.
At $45k, sure, a tough thing to justify.
At $3k? Freaking bargain. And it looks good in that color too.
