has been the most productive day this summer. Put my exhaust system back in the Buick, totally re-built my bike using parts from two other bikes so now I have a MongooseMagna XR-WTF that works... as long as you don't want the largest chainring (mumble grumble adjustment screws don't offer enough adjustment) and I repaired the gas tank for the lawn mower.

That's right.

Today I did something relavent to Oppo, Two-Wheels Good, *and* Pull-Start my Heart.

Now if only we had a computer-related subblog for the computer shenanigains I've been up to today...

Found a few Linux distros I haven't heard of, fooling around with them in VMs to see which one of them I'd rather put on my old EEEPC 900 because I hate myself. Also updated the software on my raspberrypi web server, and installed Need for Speed Most Wanted on my sim racing rig because it's totally a simulator yo.

I'm thinking of driving over to my mom's to retrieve a hard drive that I could put in my Dell D630 for even more Linux shenanigains.

Right on, I'm #! for life, yo. What distros are you looking at? Also, I've never even heard of an EEEPC 900 and now I feel somewhat inadequate. Okay, the feeling has passed. I've been kind of thinking about getting a rasberrypi to tool around with, although I have no idea what I'd actually use it for, so I keep managing to not spend the money on that (and just waste it on other things!) and yes, NFSMW is certainly the most simulator of all simulators. That sounds awesome.

Is the D630 one of the old Latitudes?

#! is nice, but a bit out of date. GNOME 3.12 is miles ahead of previous releases, and it's not present in Crunchbang yet so boo.

Right now I'm looking at a beta of the next ElementaryOS to see how awful it is, and some OS that tries to simultaneously copy the aesthetic of eOS, GNOME 3, and ChromeOS. I think it's called "Evolve OS" and it's still in alpha.

The 900 was one of the first netbooks released. 900mhz Celeron, the second netbook made by ASUS.

Yup, nothing like them slideyphysics.

Yep. If you Wikipedia "dell latitude" they use a D630 as the example image.

Ah, you have a point there. ElementaryOS isn't so bad, is it? I've never used it but I usually read it's a decent intro to Linux, although I usually would rec. Ubuntu for that (and then if they're anything like me, get bored of it immediately and find something better, which is a good thing). That other OS sounds very interesting..

And netbooks. Jesus man, what were we all thinking? I don't think there's a more heinous mainstream-targeting creation to come out of the tech industry.

Right on, that's what I thought. We have a bunch of old Latitudes at work and some of them actually hold up really well, it's pretty surprising.

eOS is better than Ubuntu, but as someone with a serious case of Design Superiority Complex I get pissed off because there will be a pixel off here, or a shadow not right there, or the radius of this corner doesn't match this corner, and the graphic design, while pretty from 8 feet away, is kind of sloppy.

Yeah, netbooks aren't the world's best idea. My Dell Venue 8 Pro absolutely roflstomps anything from the netbook department.

Ah, I gotcha. That would kill me too. No surprise there. Those things look sweet.
