$30000 for a "1983" (I think it's closer to early 90's ) ex Dutch MOD Defender. If it wasn't for the fact that I just bought a house I'd seriously consider buying it lol.

The Defender monicker only came around in 1990, before that they were called Land Rover 110 and Land Rover 90's. Land Rover is actually the model name.

Been there done that lol, actually a lot of those roads are number county roads so they can ticket you. I had a park ranger yell at me because I had my roof rack spot lights on as they're illegal to have on when driving on state/county roads.

No, the dashboard is a Defender dashboard plus there are few other bits that point towards Defender. I think it was titled as an 83, when buying ex MOD vehicles they come with basically no paperwork so it's easy to write up new papers and fudge the dates.

I've heard of guys having to get new VIN plates made for ex MOD Land Rovers as they didn't come with them or they were mismatched because two vehicles become one vehicle.

We normally camp at Goshen Pond, very pretty but not very remote however most of the campers are normally quiet. There is also Bodine Field which is nice and both are primitive camping with only portable water and Pit toilets.

My condolences :(. Thankfully Duggaboy has been good to me so far, I'm going to do the head gaskets in Octoberish because the water pump is on it's way out so I might as well just replace the gaskets while I'm about it before they become an issue.

I wish I was allowed to do them too, I have the knowledge and the parts are cheap but it is the time spent on the repair that is the major sticking point.

That does suck, it helps that I have a daily driver in addition to Dug so if I break him off road I can stick him in the garage and work on him when I have time.

By that logic I need to get my wife a DD as well. The Nissan 4x4 I drive with almost a quarter million miles runs fine, but has electrical issues meaning my tail lights are shorted out, brake lights work but not the running lights.

If you can afford it, you could always buy your wife a nice reliable DD and turn the Disco into a toy. They're stupid easy to modify and have a wealth of aftermarket parts...

That has been the goal in its 7 years of my ownership. All I have managed to do is remove the horrible LR stuff that limits it (ACE and Air ride) and add a couple things so that it functions after a lift and keep running strong but a few things here a few things there and it needs general TLC. Sucks because it's a super rare Monte Carlo blue.

Oh man, I saw one the other day that had a white roof and it looked amazing with the Monte Carlo blue body. I'd say try convince your wife to let you keep it and just get her a nice DD, if you joined the local LR scene you can actually find parts for cheap and you can play up the "hobby" angle with the Mrs.

If that doesn't work, you could always tell her "hey at least I don't do meth". lol
