Ok we now have a fancy GOPRO camera and we would like to use it to record cool gopro things. We have mounts, cases, everything but a microphone.
I have a car with an exhaust, a meisterschaft exhaust, we would like to capture the glorious noise that is expelled through these fine pipes of my F10 550i!! (Salty winter shot, sorry she's my DD)
Quick search on the interwebs, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! !
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
It does sound excellent! But what are your suggestions?! I need to order a microphone, price anywhere below <$50 (seems like a fair price?)
-Microphone recommendation
-Microphone placement
-Camera placement
-Camera angle
-and any helpful tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated as this is my first time!
As always,
thank you fellow opponauts!

gust put the go pro in your trunk, much easier. Sure no video but we're in it for the audible goodness

now you're thinking. And if you want to get fancy record the audio with phone in trunk, video with gopro (preferably looking at dash) honk to give yourself a synching point and rip the audio from your phone. Ta-da

Put a mic in the cabin, by the speakers.

Hi Stevo777,
A couple of months ago we just started looking at different setups for mics and getting good audio. Originally, we started off with the phone in the trunk as some people have suggested:
It's not bad but you have to sync it up and it sounds kind of meh at best. It's really just in-cabin exhaust that's a bit louder. So we came up with a solution involving a lavalier mic, which you can pick up for $20, and a windscreen, or just stuff it into a sock. We then taped it onto the rear valence and hooked it up straight into our camera. No syncing, and here's the kind of audio we get:
Much better, right? Not much wind noise either, so long as you stick it on the rear of the car. Lavalier mics aren't really good quality though, the audio is not the best but it picks up a lot of good sounds.. and very loud ones. Most importantly, it's very cheap. I would like to know the setup TopGear used for their F-type video though. In the mean time, I'd love to hear your 550 so if you make a video send me a link!

Thanks. This is exactly what I’ve been trying to find for my Abarth. I have a similar setup (I have the Sony mic), but I think because I don’t have a windscreen, it is really pulling through all the wind noise.
