So no, i have never gone there, and never will.

I appreciate the effort it takes to paint like that, but they are a bit ridiculous.
If you do have a lot of customs show up, then you probably have a lot of talented shops around. It might be beneficial to go; even if you don't like their style.

Put some proper wheels on that C4 and paint the whole car that colour and it'd look rather nice.

I Dont know, my car could be vandalized while im there and end up painted like theirs.
Its a shame, because i see many great cars on the road. Ive seen R8's, C7, Some classics. murcielago. But those dont go to car meets for the same reason i guess.

Where is this? It is probably not to my taste either.. but I have a live let live policy to niche car cultures, so whatever.

You could ride with somebody else.
I went to cars and coffee around here, but it was pretty boring. There were a few interesting things hidden behind the typical stock Corvettes, Porsches, and BMWs.
At least some interestingly modified cars show up at your's; you kind of get sick of looking at the same cars over and over again.
Mine was kinda like this:
"Well, at we can see every color they offered on the Corvette in 2006"
"Not a real m3; not a real m3; not a real m3"
"Out of all the porsches here, it seems that only the boring models showed up"

What a waste of a Corvette. I can't stand it when people do this.

Looks like a Friday night of Cruising in Espanola NM. Glad Cars and Coffee here in Albuquerque is a bit more classy.

Based on the headlights, this used to be a MkIV Golf. Based on the rest of the car, I have no fuckin' clue.

I'm gonna go out in my garage and give my vette a big hug and tell her that even though she's not at all a sought after version, I will never, ever paint her the wrong color or attack her with an airbrush. She's safe in my house and I won't let the paint shop bogeyman get her.

I did the same thing last night. I always feel so awful for those poor Corvettes that get turned into monstrosities. Makes my heart hurt every time. What 'Vette do you got?

82 Collectors Edition, a prime candidate for someone to scoop up cheap and do terrible things to.

I know the feel. I got an '86. As seen above, terrible things are done to C4s, but I've seen just as terrible things done to C3s, as you said. Glad to hear you take care of yours. I've always loved the late C3s, despite what people say about them. Got any pics of yours? Would love to see it.

Sure, this is my baby! She's a triumph of style over substance and I wouldn't have her any other way. She has better curves than I do, lol.
I'd love to see yours if you have pics. I have a little squishy spot in my heart for those early end C4s, I had a little crush on a white 85 for a while before my heart was stolen.

Beautiful 'Vette! I don't care what anyone says, I absolutely adore the C3. I deeply considered buying a C3, though I couldn't find any nice ones within my price range. Yours looks like a fantastic example of a somewhat forgotten breed. Is she all original?
No prob. Here is my baby. I agree, I think the earlier C4s look better than the later ones. They just have much more profound angles.

Mmm, she's lovely! And I must say, I always have loved those wheels, they just compliment the car so nicely. I also love how they smoothed out and modernized that front end, it has a different, more subtle sort of flair after the C3. It looks like you've cared for her very well. Any additions or modifications on yours?
Mine is *mostly* original. The radio is modern and the back window has been replaced, but other than that, 100% factory. She has a few foibles from past owners, the back bumper is a little faded (we think she lived in a carport rather than a garage) and that vinyl down the hood is cracked into a million little pieces. So basically I'm at that point where I have to decide whether to restore to perfection or go the survivor route. As for price, I admit that I got a reeeeally good deal, 9.5k for a beautiful car with less than 40k miles at the time. However, I'm the daughter in law of the owner of a lot that sort of specializes in Corvettes, so I fall into a "special circumstances" type thing. It benefits me in that I get to have that car and it benefits the business in that people ask me constantly where I got her so I can refer them back to the lot and I can participate in Corvette events around town. Not that the latter is something I particularly enjoy as I'm always the youngest owner there by a good 20 years, hahaha.

Thanks! Yeah, I've always loved the original saw blade wheels. Only downside with those wheels is that they get scuffed up VERY easily. Mine are not horrible, but they are not by any means perfect. They really kind of went for the subtle look with the C4, for sure. It definitely cannot replicate the flair that the C3 has, but it does have a lot of flair, in my opinion. I've owned her for a little over a year now, and she's been taken care of every step of the way. As for modifications, I really don't have a ton. I have a K&N Air Filter that I just installed a month or so ago. The car also has a cut filter lid, which compliments the K&N. Lastly, I have a throttle body air foil. If you don't count the maintenance, such as plugs, plug wires, a new distributor, new mass air flow sensor, etc., that's just about it. It doesn't really have any additions, except for new weather stripping and a new front spoiler.
That's more original than the vast majority of them. The radio is especially no big deal, since nearly every late C3's radio has been replaced. The faded bumper happens to all of those, so that's not to bad either. Same with those vinyls, since they were never really meant to last. Sounds like you don't have too far to go to get to perfection, but the survivor route is also a cool way to keep it. And nice price! $9.5k is not bad at all for an '82 Collector's Edition. Not to mention, less than 40k miles on a late C3 is simply an astonishing achievement. Sounds like you got yourself a phenomenal car.

Hahaha, I imagine it would be quite easy to curb the absolute hell out of those wheels, sooo much surface area. Worth it though for that slightly post-DeLorean mid 80's look, imo. If there's one thing I'm not particularly keen on with mine, it's the old school tribute wheels. Aesthetically they're less my thing and cleaning them takes for evvvvvver, just so many little nooks and crannies to scrub. That and she's smelling a little hot lately, but everything reads just fine, so I'm hoping it's nothing.
At this point I'm leaning more towards survivor considering a fresh paint job and new vinyl would run me around 10k and we still have three other cars to pay on, a Mazda 3, M3, and a Fiat 500. The same money could easily pay off the Mazda and a good chunk of the Fiat. I also dig the idea of originality, she just turned 33, I like the thought of her looking a bit like a beloved vintage shirt, not a new reproduction of a vintage shirt. And the 40k miles mostly wasn't me, I only got her last summer and I'm the one who rolled her over that mark. But still, a smidge over a thousand miles a year is pretty good!
