I sipped whisky with my celiac buddy yesterday.

the distilling process is your friend. I can find out all the reasoning from him if you like, but he never has any issues with it. And he's not one of those silly anti-gluten people, he legit has celiac like you.

I'll have to consult my Gastroenterologist. Ive heard that naturally distilled stuff has less than the fda's requirement for GF, but I dont trust it. I also have crohns disease thats been in remission for 5 years, I really dont wanna rock the boat

Yeah you got some stuff going on. I'm sue the Gastro knows more than I do and I don't pretend to be an expert. I just did a bit of googling and like you said the FDA say's you're good, but the impression I've gotten is to go slow with your introduction of it. Which is smart for a first time whisky drinker anyhow!

But I was enjoying Jameson Black Barrel yesterday with him. His mom also has Celiac so he's used to restrictions, his only developed in the last couple years.

Well, go have a hard cider to celebrate then. There's tons of great cider options these days.

I wont, Ill be with my parents. The perks of being jewish; You get to have strong kosher wine weekly, Ive been drinking manischewitz since I was 6. Ive never gotten drunk, but Ive been buzzed on passover, I dont like the feeling. Im not a big drinker.

I got to work in a health food during the entire gluten-free explosion (when people started thinking that gluten free = healthy = weight loss) and saw the entire line of food become dramatically better. I swear, there was a new sandwich bread every few months, each one was way better than the previous. It was like watching rapid evolution before your eyes, all of these companies competing for the best-tasting products and discovering all of these new ingredients and techniques as they go along.

I don't think you understand how this whole "21st birthday" thing works. It doesn't matter what you normally do; this is a rite of passage. This is the day that your friends bring up later on in life, when you're all married with kids. "Hey, remember how drunk we got Denver when he turned 21? Man, what a great night!"

I'm all for responsible alcoholic consumption, with the one exception being your 21st birthday.

Ive been celiac since Gluten free bread had to be toasted frozed just to avoid crumbling. The change in quality has really been remarkable

Reminds me of the shift pattern on an old car I replaced the shifter in. Nobody told me about aligning the levers. A full 5 speed shift looked a lot like that.
