Yeah, okay.
The 22" wheels, leather clad interior, and plethora of options say otherwise.
Oh, and the price tag.
That being said, I'd kill for this truck. Like holy shit I love this configuration.

Say what you will about GM's square wheel wells. There's not a cleaner, sexier, more polished looking truck on the market.

I've spent quite a lot of time on the Chevy configurator creating large amounts of Silverado recently.

It's nice, but $60k for a half-ton?
Got Damn!

I made one of those too.
Whoever green-lighted the standard 20" rims on the High Country needs to leave the styling department.

It's still a pickup. Plenty of utility. BTW I have a mini-review of this coming up:

Half-tons are getting expensive!
There's Ford and Ram models that go even higher I think.

Is it worth what they want for it? Or is the Yukon Denali better?
![]() 07/26/2014 at 19:52 |

Q: Is it THAT much better than the Denali?
![]() 07/26/2014 at 19:53 |

Realistic price you'll actually pay is $52k.
![]() 07/26/2014 at 19:54 |

Haven't driven the Denali yet. It was a case of "We will call you when we get one in"

I will know in about a week, when I drive the Denali.

Whoever approved a 2 wheel drive truck also needs to leave that respected department.
I can't even imagine having an RWD pickup. I think a truck is supposed to more function than looks, not a luxurious mall crawler with massive chrome wheels.

What GMC dealer doesn't have a Denali version of every model there? Especially as high of a seller as the Yukon Denali was/is.

That's the thing. He said they had one in that morning, and it sold. He basically said they never sit on the lot more than a day. People buy them immediately.
![]() 07/26/2014 at 19:56 |

Indeed.
I've no problem with big, American-style pickup trucks, but they're about as utilitarian as a Zonda, at least as compared to actual utility vehicles, like this Transit Tipper. That's not to say they don't have their place, like any other variety of car, but the whole 'Rugged, practical' look is, well, just that: a look. Actual utility vehicles don't have giant chrome grilles, shiny paint, and macho bodywork.
![]() 07/26/2014 at 19:56 |

Sad thing is, that's what most trucks has been degraded to: chrome-clad mall crawlers.
![]() 07/26/2014 at 19:58 |

Well, that makes sense.
![]() 07/26/2014 at 20:01 |

Yup, that seems to be whats happening. I'm hoping that the HOMIE-G BLING BLING stops in it's tracks. Being able to beat on trucks, (From what I remember) is one of the purposes they were intended for.
![]() 07/26/2014 at 20:02 |

Well, there's a whole other end of the trim range, and that's an actual work truck.
Nothing but a key and a heater basically. And a 4.3L V6 compared to that Denali's 6.2L V8.
![]() 07/26/2014 at 20:23 |

Yeah, I was going to add that if you wait a little later into the model year, you'd likely get a Denali/King Ranch/Laramie from your manufacturer of choice for around $45.
![]() 07/26/2014 at 20:24 |

Ah, but does the back do this? (The sides fold down, too.)

When people say "work truck" and "Chevy" in the same sentence, this is the style of truck I always think of, because they are awesome as work trucks.

No... no it doesn't. Im sure there's an aftermarket thing though.

Way too many fun cars can be had for that kinda dough!

Hydraulic lift beds on a pickup cab chassis? Yes we have plenty of options. Don't see them on half tons often. Or Chevy's much here. Mainly f350-450 crew cabs and are used for landscaoe crews a lot here. We just have an F350 and a 12000# dump trailer. I'll keep my bed as is although I strongly considered a utility bed seeing as my truck is my only vehicle I opted for a Lariat. Yes I work it to death all week and go haul the kids around the weekends.
![]() 07/26/2014 at 21:34 |

Yeah, I'm too pragmatic to act like those trucks can't also be used as cushy family sedans, but that's a bunch of money for a vehicle I'd scrape and ding up while actually using them as trucks.

What's wrong with a rwd drive truck? There's 100's of professions that don't need a 4x4. At that point 4x4 is just a sticker on your bed side. And while I do see a few higher end trucks that have never been used other than to haul a load of bulk goods back from Costco, it's not nearly as bad as it was in the early 2000's at least here in Atlanta. I still see a few brodozers as well but usually in the 10 year old ram variety and less in the new $60k pickup market now.

GMT400 baby! interiors are crap but they will work into the ground.
![]() 07/26/2014 at 22:22 |

I understand that there are professions where you don't need 4x4. But IMO it would be more useful all around.
![]() 07/26/2014 at 23:47 |

well, if all you need is to haul a buch of stuff in the bed and don't need to worry about getting stuck anywhere, a 2wd truck might make sense. (ie "I haul a bunch of stuff from place to place on highways in the south")
![]() 07/27/2014 at 00:03 |

Exactly why they're excellent work trucks, you don't feel bad if you tear the seats/headliner or damage a panel, throw a little duct tape on the break and you're goof for a long time.
![]() 07/27/2014 at 13:52 |

Oh I agree its more useful but here in Atlanta its moot, the only time it would be applicable would be snowmeggedon which I will admit my 4x4 was a wonderful asset trying to get home, but the other 99.9% of the time I'm in 4x2. Here in the southeast there's not really a reason to spend the extra few thousand on it. I bought my truck used and most non fleet trucks seem to have them packaged in already anyways.

Gotcha, Here in NOVA it snows a good amount during winter, the roads are already shit and they don't plow them half as often as they need to. I've got a Quattro A4, and I'd say that it's just enough to survive the snow up here.
I do fully understand, that since 4x4 does add a noticeable amount of extra money to the truck, that if it isn't necessary then there is little point in having it.
What kind of truck is it that you have?
