I'm bored at work, so I'm gonna gonna go ahead and compare the ever minimally changing shape of the 911; Starting with the very first generation and the second(G-Series).

I'll only be focusing on the body, shape, and interiors of the coupe; not the engines or suspension and that stuff, or even the Targa and Cabriolets; and even more so, the first year of each generation(1963, 1974, 1989, 1995, 1998, 2005 and 2009, and 2012). So that being said let's begin with the first and second 911s from 1963 and 1974 respectively!

1st Gen/901(1963)

1st gen simplicity and perfection.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

The very first 911. It is simply one of the majestic wonders of the 60s. Known as the "long nose" among some enthusiast. Notice the use of chrome along the windows, headlamps, door handle, and single mirror; the "PORSCHE" badge on the rear engine lid. It is the original narrow-body 911; no flares anything special. Just smooth and simple lines, front to back; just simplistic in every way. That's the keyword with vintage Porsche really, "simple".

Kinja'd!!!

Some other smaller things to note, are the location of the turn signals, fuel door and front air intakes beneath the headlights; also, the rear bumperettes in the back, some small things to keep note of as the generations progress. Oh, and the small circular side mirror.

Kinja'd!!!

And that simplistic mindset can be seen in the interior; wheel, gauges, ignition, that's it. Just a proper simple sports car that first 911 is.

G-Series(1974)

Impact bumpers, how I love you so much.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

In accordance to the lower- speed impact laws the US began to implement in the 70s, Porsche responded with what I think was one of the best-integrated impact bumpers on a car from that era. There's a reason why the bumpers stayed for the 15 years this generation lasted. The turn signals are now integrated into the new bumpers. The chrome trim along the windows, headlamps and door handles remain, and the fuel door is still in the same place. Also, because of the new bumpers, the long hood is gone and a shorter one is in place.

The only physical changes to take note of are the addition of an antenna by the fuel door, the movement of the "PORSCHE" lettering to the rear reflector, and the larger "elephant ear" side mirror. But other than those minor things, the overall shape hasn't really changed at all!

Lastly, remember those bumperettes I mentioned earlier? notice that while they've clearly changed in size, not so much in location.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

There is some change in the interior. A new leather-wrapped steering wheel, the introduction of some primitive, inefficient creature comforts(ask me how I know); in the form of a radio, AC and heater. In a way, it looks either more complex and simpler than it's predecessor.

Here are some random pictures of '63 and '74:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Quick fun fact: front impact bumper on the G-Series kinda gives off a "smiley-face" when you look at it like this. :)

Now for the obligatory "which do you like best and why?" question and poll:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Hope this was somewhat interesting, informative or something like that. Next, I'll do a comparison of the G-Series and 964.

As a car, G-Model. Nothing beats 20 years of development. As something to look at, 901. Blah blah purity, blah blah its ze original. However I'd kill many of baby seals to DD a 911R, so advantage for the 901.
